On March 1st the yellowfin tuna was willing and ready. Both, Captain Scott and Captain Hunter did well on the big tunas. The biggest tuna caught on March 1st weighed 172 pounds. He put up a fight but was subdued in 45 mins.
March 2 was another great day on the water. Went back to the tuna fishing hot spots and they were biting. The first few drifts produced some nice blackfin tuna. After that, it was one yellowfin tuna after another. Captain Hunter had four guys on his boat. They ended the day with 11 yellowfin tuna weighing between 70-110 pounds.
Capt Scott was busy all day with the yellowfin and blackfin tuna. Then, he had a big surprise when a 455-pound mako shark came up the boat and started chewing on the lower units. Capt Scott hooked the beast up and had the mako shark to the boat in 45 mins. After a few shots to the head and some high fives, they put the monster in the boat. Captain Scott finished with eight nice yellowfin tunas and the massive 455-pound mako shark.
The fishing in Venice is hot this time of year. Our charter captains will be back on the water everyday this week.
