February has turned out to be a pretty good month for some big yellowfin tuna. The big fish showed up late January. Majority of the trips in February have produced some quality Yellowfin with the biggest fish going 183 lbs. Most days have yielded fish over 100 lbs. The bite has been different every day. Some days it happens as soon as we get to the lump and then the next day we don’t get a bite until noon.
All four boats have been fishing on the weekends. Capt Geff has been putting in the time the last 5 years deck handing with Capt Scott and Myself. He started running the 32 twinvee last fall and proved he has what it takes to produce fish and show the customers a good time. His first trip this year he bagged 3 yellowfin with the biggest going 145 lbs, a hand full of blacks and a nice wahoo. Day two he set his personal best wahoo going 93 lbs along with A few nice tuna.
Capt Rene has been doing his thing on the new 36 ft Yellowfin consistently producing some big tuna. His biggest for February is 155. His best day last week he had 5 yellows all over 100 lbs.
Capt Scott has been on a roll the last two weeks with his best trip producing 8 yellowfin. He scored a nice 150 lb Mako on Monday best part is he fought the same fish the day before at the same spot and lost it boat side.
The big tuna and wahoo usally hang around until late March. We still have open days to chase some big tuna and wahoo.
Every day is different with the tuna bite but I guarantee Capt Scott,Geff,Rene and Myself will give you 100 percent effort to put you on the fish.
