What To Bring

In order to have the best possible fishing charter experience, we recommend bringing these items along.

Fishing License

All charter customers must purchase a fishing license from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Customers must purchase their license prior to the date of the charter.

Sun Protection

There is limited sun protection on board our vessels. Make sure to bring adequate sun protection, such as suntan lotion, a buff, and a hat.

Spare Ice Chest

Bring a spare ice chest to transport your catch home. Styrofoam coolers are also available for purchase at Venice Marina.

Hand towels

It's a good idea to bring a clean towel on your trip to freshen up in between fighting fish. Don't forget to bring a towel.

Medication & First Aid

Offshore fishing will take you far away from land for an extended period of time. Make sure to bring any medications you may need over the course of the day.

Camera

Make sure to bring a camera or GoPro to document the experience. The fish fight may not last forever, but the pictures sure will.

HeadWear

You absolutely must wear a hat to protect your head and eyes from the sun. Sunlight reflects off the surface of the ocean creating glare, which can create headaches if you don't wear a hat or sunglasses.

Sun Protection

Protect yourself from harmful solar radiation by wearing a lightweight breathable shirt designed for sport fishing. Cover your face with a UV protective scarf.

Rain Gear

Weather offshore can change in an instant. It's best to bring rain gear in case you need it. Always check the weather before your trip to know what conditions to expect.

Sunglasses

Every offshore fisherman needs a quality pair of sunglasses. Polarized sunglasses will protect your eyes and allow you to see through the surface of the water. Always wear sunglasses when fishing offshore.

Deck Shoes

Wear comfortable shoes for balance and protection. Do not wear heavy boots. Offshore fishing is a physical endeavor and athletic shoes are best.

Pants or Shorts?

This goes without speaking, but dress for the weather you will experience during your trip. Exposure protection is important. Wear layers if it's cold.Wear boardshorts if its hots. Dress for fishing. Not the office.

What to Eat?

Be smart about this - you are going fishing. You don't need a four course meal. Bring food that you will consume during the day. We don't have any food on the boat waiting for you.

Alcohol and Liquor

Be responsible. If you get drunk, your day will be over before it begins. Use good judgement and don't plan on becoming intoxicated. Be safe out there.

Cooking On Board

You are not allowed to cook any food during your charter. All food must be prepared and easy to consume. No BBQ at sea, no matter how fresh the tuna is.

Drinks

We have some water bottles on board, but you are responsible for bringing your own beverages. Bring water, sports drinks, and anything else practical to consume while fishing.

Beer

It's up to you, but remember that offshore fishing is a physical activity. Drinking beer all day can lead to dehydration, which can make you sea sick and unable to fight large fish. Be practical about how much beer you should bring.

Trash Policy

Do your best not to produce unnecessary amounts of garbage. We don't want it to wind up in the ocean.

Our Captain Scott and first mate Taylor were excellent! They really knew what they were doing and streamlined the entire process, making for an awesome experience! They were friendly and very accommodating. Scott navigated the boat like a champion. I had such a great time! We caught many fish and the entire experience was wonderful. I highly recommend Paradise Outfitters.

I flew over to Louisiana from Tampa, Florida for a couple days of tuna fishing with Captains Hunter and Drew. It was absolutely incredible! Captain Hunter is professional and extremely knowledgable about fishing around the rigs. Drew is very determined on the water and works hard to put customers on the fish. These guys are the real deal down in Venice and their experience put me on some absolute monsters. The first fish we hooked into was a ~300lb blue marlin! The fish was safely released after a two-hour battle which nearly brought me to my knees. We followed up with a wahoo, blackfin tunas, and some big yellowfin tunas. Words don't really describe the fishing you'll get with Paradise Outfitters; it's something that must be experienced.
